Bersih 3.0, Brisbane, Australia

The local residence of Brisbane, Australia must have been puzzled by a bunch of yellow-clothed people gathering in the rain. It was Bersih 3.0 and the rain had not extinguished the flame of Malaysian patriots. We were there to ask for 8 changes to be made by the government.

Although the early arrivals were a bit worried about wrong location or people not coming, our number grew larger as more people braved the rain and joined us.

It wasn't long before we started to talk to the fellow Malaysians whom we have never met before.

We who travel away from our home country did not carry much clothing, not to mention yellow clothes. But people managed to use other accessories as a substitution: cap, jacket, raincoat, umbrella, shoes, flyers...

We stood in the rain and shared our opinions. Those who gave speech came from various background, from professional to everyday people. Those who didn't stood out had nevertheless talked to each other and expressed themselves.

I wonder how an innocent child think about witnessing such a historical event, but I was certainly amazed. People would update each other about the progress of Bersih 3.0 back in Malaysia, and the others would cheer when they heard that everything was going fine - at least that was what we all hoped for.

We called it a day after the group photo session, which would serve as the voice of Malaysians who ventured the other countries. I believe everyone knows, that this is at least what we can do from overseas.

Let's hope for a better tomorrow for Malaysia.

Bersih 3.0, Brisbane, Australia -

Sequence of an old folk

People of Brisbane #5: Adelaide Street

One Day on Earth the music video - by Cut Chemist

Humans are curious creatures that explore everything in reach, including themselves. Following modernisation the world has became increasingly small, yet we are at the same time being dwarfed by the increasingly amount of information, knowledge, and culture clash. It is time to walk out of our little world and embrace the diversity, rather than rejecting it. To be truly global, we have to first forget about our differences.

If you're into this kind of video, check out Baraka (1992), Koyaanisqatsi (1982), Powaqqatsi (1988), and Naqoyqatsi (2002).

Null #1: Nothing is true except this statement

An Earth Hour Short: Celestial Traffic

Initially I went out for some photographs during the lights-off for Earth Hour 2012, but my camera's battery had died and eventually I had to switch to timelapse recording using the camcorder. The great thing about crappy cheapy camcorder is that, the focusing is always terrible during the night. Nevertheless it was the out-of-focus that brought the surprising idea that made the following short.

Oh and, great music by Motion Trio.

Fishmongers
Fishmongers. 2012. Canon G5.

鱼贩用很重的泰国腔笑问 "What are you doing?" I'm documenting your job." "Later you put me on internet? Don't want don't want." "You're handsome and you wanna go online!"
