Bersih 3.0, Brisbane, Australia

The local residence of Brisbane, Australia must have been puzzled by a bunch of yellow-clothed people gathering in the rain. It was Bersih 3.0 and the rain had not extinguished the flame of Malaysian patriots. We were there to ask for 8 changes to be made by the government.

Although the early arrivals were a bit worried about wrong location or people not coming, our number grew larger as more people braved the rain and joined us.

It wasn't long before we started to talk to the fellow Malaysians whom we have never met before.

We who travel away from our home country did not carry much clothing, not to mention yellow clothes. But people managed to use other accessories as a substitution: cap, jacket, raincoat, umbrella, shoes, flyers...

Some spend some time to write.

We stood in the rain and shared our opinions. Those who gave speech came from various background, from professional to everyday people. Those who didn't stood out had nevertheless talked to each other and expressed themselves.

I wonder how an innocent child think about witnessing such a historical event, but I was certainly amazed. People would update each other about the progress of Bersih 3.0 back in Malaysia, and the others would cheer when they heard that everything was going fine - at least that was what we all hoped for.

We called it a day after the group photo session, which would serve as the voice of Malaysians who ventured the other countries. I believe everyone knows, that this is at least what we can do from overseas.

Let's hope for a better tomorrow for Malaysia.
